Several years ago I was called to a residence and the victim's dog came out and grabbed my boot with it's mouth. I was shaking my foot around with the little ankle biter firmly attached. The whole time the person was saying "oh he won't hurt you". I'm just glad he had a hold of my size 12 Danner and not my flesh. Those little dog's are the worst.
When my Nephew was still in Kindergarten he had a small mutt named Sam. Sam was a canine garbage machine but when he ate certain people foods he would get a case of serious gas. One football week end Sam had consumed half his weight in leftover Chili. Two door knockers were trying to sell my sister something. They were sitting on the couch under which Sam had taken refuge to sleep off his huge snack of leftovers. My Sister was trying to say no to whatever it was the sales people were selling but they wouldn't take NO for an answer. Sam to the rescue! He let loose with a quiet paint peeler. Within about three seconds those sales people were looking for the door. Sam earned a spot in my Sister's heart for that action.
I had a similar incident. I was nice enough, some officers had another opinion, to hold a door open for a K-9 handler and his dog as we exited a building. The dog decided to take a bite out of a crime fighter. Luckily the bite did not break the skin. But a new pair of pants was ruined
I moderate comments submitted to this blog. I redact profanity, inane off-topic comments, bigoted garbage, personal attacks against others, and anything else I feel like deep sixing. I let a lot of stuff through that does not reflect my own opinion or that of the City of Lincoln or the departments I manage. If you post a comment, you never know where it will go: this is all open to the public, so post at your own risk.

I want to sing:
"How much is that doggy in the window"
But the neighbors close the windows when I do so I will pass.

Probably woke the dog up.
Cats are a little more cop-friendly.

Now that is indeed Man's Best Friend. I wonder if you can train a dog to provide that service.
