Item identification

I thought we might continue this small series concerning items likely to be forgotten in the mist of time.  Anyone recognize this stand, holding up the plant in Jackie's office at HQ?

FUNKY!

Well Director, those look like the trays for the large computer magnetic tape reels. They work better than punch cards as a plant stand.

Nyfty,

Well done. That fern is being elevated by the police records database for about five years in the late 1980's.

My guess would have been an old food dehydrator that was taking up too much counter space. But then maybe it is a multi-functioning tool.

You might gasp if you knew the original total cost of that stack of reels.

I tried to comment earlier and got some kind of error message. Now, I see the word verification box down below. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but I'll see what happens with this comment.

Verification seemed to work (this time), but I'm not so sure a robot couldn't do as well as I do on some of these things.

We are getting close to the time of year when our LEO'S need our thoughts and prayers. They deal with things that ordinary workers do not. I am remembering the Christmas day (years ago) Officer down at 22nd to 23rd Q street. I think the Mayor should have the month of December as "Thank a public servant" Month. A blog again about the many challenges that your people face would be timely.

9:00,

No doubt! I see you can now buy a 64G USB stick for $35. I wonder how many of those would be the equivalent of one of those tape reels?
