Holiday shopping

During December, 148 shoplifting reports were filed in Lincoln.  Here's a partial list of some of the more interesting articles appearing on those police Incident Reports, proving that thieves will steal anything:

Chapstick
Kitty Litter
Pillowcases
Thermometer
Picnic Basket
Shopping bags
Panties
AirWick refills
Red Alert security kit
Navel jewelry (not to be confused with Naval jewelry)
Superglue
Hot dog buns
Chili cheese dogs
Footies
Pla-do
Fingernails
2 green limes (do they come in other colors?)
Shot glasses
Tequila
Vodka
Cognac
Beer (lots of)
Cologne

I didn't see condoms on the list. I saw a teenage girl sneak a pack in to her purse at a local grocery store last summer. It was a conundrum: Do I rat her out or do I just keep my mouth shut? If I rat her out she may not use protection and if she gets pregnant there will be another unwed(?) teen drawing ADC to raise a kid. I decided to let that one go. The Unintended Consequences of turning her in might have been to great.

When I worker at the Humane Society in a major US city, I found an extraordinary number of offenders who there to work off some court deal to be; White, Young, Female, Shoplifters, (wait for it...)Cosmetics!! It got so whenever I had a new community service worker I could guess the shoplifters by that one simple profile.

Cheers!

Picnic basket, chili dogs, hot dog buns, limes, tequila, shot glasses, and beer. In Kansas we call that a "shindig".

Mr. Director,

Question off topic. Since it has been a year now since Park & Go took over downtown parking from LPD, how have they done revenue wise from previous years that LPD was handling things? Was this a good move for the City? Thanks!
