Probably something to help walk uphill both ways to a call for service.

That is the end of the electronic key card that was put into the card reader at entry doors at the 10th & M st. facility (233 S. 10th st). All LPD employees had one and was unique to each employee. I think I may still have mine somewhere. The main reader was at the Service Desk and was J W Kearns little baby.

That was fast. Doubt that many of these still exist. How long was it before that system failed entirely, and we just went back to keys?

I thought I was the only one that walked uphill both ways to a call for service. Knee-deep snow as I recall on most days. And that was before gore-tex so we actually wore the fur of any wooly-mammal we could kill with our bare hands.
