Soaked on Easter

Long time readers of the Chief's Corner know that I often shake my head in wonder at the incidents that occur on holidays.  The holiest of the holidays is no exception.  On Easter, over a dozen people greeted the sunrise in detox after being tagged in by Lincoln police officers in an intoxicated state in the wee hours of the morning--nine of them for drunk driving.  Nine DWI arrests would constitute a pretty productive night under any circumstances at all.

The most bizarre and incongruous alcohol-related call, however, came in later in the day: just shy of 6:00 PM.  Officer Justin Feldaus was sent to a cemetary on case number B1-035781, a report that a man in a white shirt and baggy pants was urinating on graves.

I've heard of 'dancing on one's grave', but this is just plain nutty. What was he charged with?

Chief,

Was the grave that of anyone they knew, or did they just pick one at random?

Easter is always fun. We raise the Easter flag and the kids have an Easter egg hunt. They usually aren't very successful though. The Easter Bunny buries them in the sand.

Speaking of Easter crime, I do wish people wouldn't make their property a really soft target:

Not surprising. Easter is for the bunny and colored eggs for some people. Mention of the resurection of Jesus Christ will bring silence and dumb looks from others. Some Christians do not celebrate Easter..this could be why?

The dead person's name wasn't Ford, was it? I see a lot of "Piss on Ford" decals around town. Maybe the guy just took it literally.

Chief-Here's how we started Easter. A 16 year-old gets a weekend pass from lockup to spend Easter weekend with his family. One hour into Easter Sunday, he shoots his Sister and wounds her, and then shoots her boyfriend who is mortally wounded. Apparently the kid didn't like his Sis's boyfriend. Not quite on par with a serial grave-pisser, but still a head shaker. Be happy you live in Lincoln.

PS-I drove by 14-O several times last week but because it was 8 hours after closing time all the bars were quiet.
