Recognize this?

There will be a couple hundred people who instantly recognize the objects in this photo—part of my occasional series on identifying certain objects of interest.  It is remarkable that these two objects have survived.  One belongs to Assistant Chief Jim Peschong, the other to Information Systems Manager Clair Lindquist.  Keep in mind before you post that I moderate all comments.  Stay classy.

It looks like a suppository. I remember as a youth the look the pharmacy person had on their face. I asked if you take them with food. He smiled and said no. Then I found out what and how to use those. And from that time on understood why the signs say "WASH HANDS" prior to leaving this room!

I have often wished Google had "image recognition" capabilities, however, this may be one of those times I'm glad it doesn't. I can only imagine the images that would appear on my screen. And me saying to my Wife, "I'm serious, Honey, I was just Googling something from "The Chief's Corner" blog site!!!"

That's what she said...

Did the rest of them burn up in the big fire last week?

I have one with 3 batteries. Served as a nightstick if necessary as well.

Well, I don't know about the one on the left but the one on the right is the top of a turn around pencil, I think. My dad used to have one in his shirt pocket. You flip the pencil around and stick it inside the case so that the lead doesn't break or poke you. Am I close???
Love these pics, Chief. It's fun to remember.

I think the silver one is the backend of a metal flashlight. The red one could be a red lenses cover for directing traffic at night.

Looks like Rudolph's nose and a bullet for my S&W 500.

The Chief's cheating. He's only showing part of the photo (the very top part). So, you have to imagine the rest of the items (which are used together) thinking of these as just the tip.

P.S. 172 to 256... you used these.

I agree with the silver one being a pencil "cap". So if they're used together, is the red one some type of eraser? OR.... perhaps I'm just not old enough to know!!

172-

Traded mine for a Kel-lite.

My Dad had a big brass one by Ray-O-Vac that held about six batteries. I think the flat spot on one side was from hitting a car or a head with it.

All the old farts know the silver bullet flashlight and the traffic wand that fit on the end of it for directing traffic at night. If I had to guess, I'd say they are from the late 70's.

Objects of interest? You can't be serious, someone's actually interested in this? These people need to get a life.

Chief-Apparently 2:40 would consider 172, Car 54, and me "old farts".

He/she would be correct.

When everyone reads about this, they need to remember this. A small safe, in a home worth no more than 70k; I wonder what they kept in there that couldn't have been kept in a safe deposit box.
