Which is it?

I have a small collection of funny signs that I occasionally use in a PowerPoint when appropriate. A reader of the Chief’s Corner sent me this one, after reading an earliler thread concerning the no left turn signs on O Street at 56th and Cotner. Can’t have it both ways….

It is none of the above. The answer is. It is another way for the city to give a citation rather you stop or not. Another way of defining "seletive enforcement"
I can vision the city attorney now. You deed knot stop at de sign, or you stop at de sign and dat is why you got z tikit.

I don't care who you are...that's funny.

The school district should like that setup for its revenue-enhancement potential, since you could ticket motorists, no matter which sign they obeyed (during school hours anyway), and they get the fine money.

This reminds me of a policy that Husker Athletics has that states: "The throwing of objects of any sort in Memorial Stadium is strictly prohibited and grounds for removal from the stadium."

I for years thought that was why Huskers had a bad passing game.

In this year's basketball guide, they have a page where a bunch of fans are each holding a sign with one letter, and collectively it spells out Go Big Red. This picture is over a list of rules, one of which states: Signs, hand lettered or professional, are prohibited in the Devaney Center.

But more to topic -- is there a difference between "stopping" and "parking"? Is this sign mean to discourage parents from dropping off kids?

Chief, do you have a picture of the intersection of S 36th and S 37th?

i think for the purposes of these signs, "stopping" is just that, stopping your car at the curb (but remaining inside the vehicle), and "parking" is stopping your car at the curb and exiting the vehicle.

Don't be silly: In Lincoln, number streets run north and south. How could two north/south streets intersect one another?

Twice, that's how.

Do you mean the NORTH intersection of S. 36th St. and S. 37th St., or the SOUTH intersection of S. 36th St. and S. 37th St., which is over a mile away?

Chief:

You've probably seen this one before.

Steve-

It's in my collection now!

Somewhere I've got a snapshot of a warning tag I found on the vertical blinds at HQ. Shows a line drawing of the cord around a neck, with a red circle and slash through it.

I believe the area near Southeast High is where the S36th/37th come together. It's been a while since I had been there.

Do they get any more "Thank you, Captain Obvious" than this one?

So, it's not ok to wear the draw string to the vertical blinds as a scarf???

I think those blinds were meant for use in the jail cells.

Take your pick...
