Bounce house?

I must lead a sheltered life. Why, I didn't even know what a slug was! My most recent confusion occurred last week, while I was demonstrating CrimeView NEARme (the app formerly known as P3i) to some colleagues. I was showing the audience the functionality of the search feature, and entered an address in San Diego. Here is the Bing Maps image that popped up:

I had no idea what that was, but it looked like one of those inflatable bounce houses, only of the gigantic variety.  No doubt it is just me, and everyone else realized instantly what this striped structure really is.

Maybe Walter White is working there now.

Google maps shows an office building of the same shape at that location. If it were a lot smaller I'd say it was an exterminator tent.

I lived in San Diego '69-'79 and never saw anything like that of that size.

I'm anxious to learn the answer.

I give up-- what is it?

Termites?

Looks like they are tenting the building to fumigate it. I lived in CA for a few brief years and saw them do it pretty regularly out there.

7:43,

Good, I'm not alone. I guess if you've lived in the right kind of climate, like SoCal or Hawaii, you are more likely to be familiar with fumigation tents. Hard to believe that in 59 years I haven't seen one before.

By the way, if you want to see this yourself, the address I searched for was the Omega Group:

5160 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121

The tented building is a couple doors to the east, at 5230 Carroll Canyon Road. It is tented in the Pictometry ("Bird's Eye") images from Bing Maps. Read a little more about the difference between Pictometry and standard aerial orthophos on this post from a couple months ago on the Director's Desk.

That's okay, Tom, I hadn't seen one in 70!

Director,
This is totally off topic but some might find it useful. Yesterday (8/8/12) I was sitting in front of the fan in my garage when a neighbor lady stopped in. She said she was having chest pains. I keep a phone set up on MAGIC JACK in the garage so I don't have to use my cell phone time. She called her Doctor at St. Es and he told her to get to the emergency room.

I dialed 911 on my MAGIC JACK phone but I got a busy signal. I immediately called dispatch at 402-441-6000(?). The ambulance was there in less than three minutes. Great job guys. I haven't seen my neighbor today but she was discharged from St.Elizabeth by midnight last night so I assume she is OK.

My concerns are with MAGIC JACK. I have called 911 on the MJ phone before and never had a problem. Is this an isolated problem or is it common?

I avoid bounce houses.

Don't feel bad, Tom. I never saw one either until watching the new season of Breaking Bad. Could be the new thing for meth labs now! You'll have to discover some techy thing to determine what's going on inside. Could be your claim to fame! :)

Probably have bed bugs.

Director,

Whether you post this or email him directly,

For gun nut... he must configure his MagicJack for 911 calls. This is a simple process involving logging in to the site https://web04.magicjack.com/my/login.html Once logged in, go to tab call features then select 911. From there, click the link "add an address" then fill out the form. Done.

The information seems to be at 911 center shortly afterwords. I have no idea how or if 911 validates the information somehow before your address pops up on the enhanced 911 call screen... but it does pop up.
