What percent of the "early Christmas lifters" have money in pocket to pay for the gifts?
Are the alcohol products lifted by minors more often, or adults?

Jim J-

In my experience, shoplifters almost always have money to buy the goods they are stealing.

This weekend, all the liquor was stolen by people over the age of 21.

Most shoplifting isn't about the need with lack of money. It is the thrill of not getting caught. I've never in my 17yrs arrested a shoplifter that was stealing food for his family because he was hungry without funds.

When it comes to shoplifting groceries, I've noticed that they rarely boost low-priced staple foods either, nothing like 70% lean ground beef, whole fryers, store-brand boxed mac & cheese, canned beans, bags of potatoes, bags of rice, and so forth. The kind of stuff I lived on in my younger days when my wallet was pretty thin. No, it's usually good steaks, crab legs, etc etc etc.

If your gonna steal groceries, why would you steal the cheap stuff. It's all the same penalty until you reach that felony amount.
If I was stealing food, you bet I would be goin after the good stuff.

Because, you can get a whole lot more groceries before you get to felony-level.
