One very busy day

Yesterday (Saturday, September 27th) was the busiest day of 2008 for the Lincoln Police Department, by a healthy margin. August 30 ranks in second place, with 457 incidents. A lot of good police work took place on a hectic night. It didn't get much better after midnight, either.

Almost 20% (96) of the calls were "disturbances". Parking is next at 54 calls; did people figure that a ticket was cheaper and closer to the stadium than paying to park legally? It looked like UNLPD was pretty swamped too.

I also noticed 2 robberies this weekend, but no summary details for either of those, so we (as in we civilians) have no idea if they were business robberies, street robberies, home invasions, etc.

Well, I guess we do now have this very thin story on one of the robberies. I'm betting that LPD gave the LJS more complete physical descriptions of the two suspects than they decided to print. Maybe KOLN will print the uncensored descriptions, since they're not as blindered by an entrenched Rutledgian social agenda.

Do either the primary victim or the woman involved have any history with the CJ system, and do you suspect that any...contraband items...were stolen, but not reported? This one just rings a long, false note all the way through, but they didn't give much info.

The "thin story" is thin because it was pretty thin when given to us, too. The victim had invited a woman home with him from a downtown bar, after bragging to her (falsely) about the size of both his income and his stash of pot. It looks like the suspects either followed him to his apartment or (more likely) were in league with the woman. It's a wild guess what the truth really is. Description:
1) b/m 5 ft 10 to 6 ft 'skinny' with a scar on his right hand. #2 b/m/ 5'5 to 5'8 'skinny'.

There's more to the story on the Saturday case, too--it's an ex-boyfriend of the victim, who was at the victim's home, committed a domestic assault, and took the victim's cell phone on the way out. We know who we're looking for on that one, and he's a regular customer who will surface eventually.

Am I the only one who thinks the 2 high stat days on game days should be more of a connection?

How sad when a collegiate football game results in a correlation to the daily LPD call stats.
