Interesting street names

Readers of the Director's Desk know that I'm a big fan of PulsePoint. I'm subscribed to the Twitter feed (@1000livesaday) that tweets every PulsePoint CPR notification. Yesterday morning, I noticed one of those in Kingston, Ontario. It was the street name that caught my eye:

You can confirm that with Google's StreetView, too.

It made me think about other interesting street names. Here's is my nomination from Lincoln, the aptly-named Short Street.

I'm also pretty partial to the intersection of S. 37th and S. 38th Streets, which seems to defy all logic.

I'm kind of partial to the intersection where the entrance to the Highlands Golf Course is at; as you exit the parking lot you have NW 10th to the east, NW 12th to the south and NW 13th to the north.

10:50,

Sure enough, that one takes the cake! Wonder how you would describe that on a traffic crash report!

Another good one is on the StarTran bus tracking website. Whoever wrote out the stops labeled Grainger Parkway as S. 37th online because it curves into it behind the Super Target, so online the stop shows it as S 40th & S 37th Street on the SouthPointe route.

I've always enjoyed the fact that there are two N. Cotner and 70th street intersections but they are about a mile apart.

11:45,

There are also two intersections of Pioneers Blvd. and Nebraska Hwy 2, about a mile apart. Believe it or not, there are also two intersections of S. 36th St. and S. 37th Street, also just over a mile apart. The first is between Van Dorn and South Streets, the second is a bit south of Pioneers.!

Sea Mountain Rd. wishful thinking by someone?

Hah! Yes, I think Prairieview Drive (which isn't far away from Sea Mountain Road) is a bit more realistic!
