Signs of the apocalypse

Never thought I'd see the day that a stack of IBM Selectric typewriters was relegated to the surplus heap at LPD, but I snapped this picture in the equipment room at the Center Team's station at 27th and Holdrege yesterday morning.  Apparently someone doesn't realize that these are National treasures. What is the world coming to?

I believe the Service Desk still has one of those. Once on and warmed up, one gets a faint whiff of chicken noodle soup.

If they work, they are still in demand, including at government offices, where they may still be required by law to use some multipart forms.

Steve,

The original comment linking to this photo of the pirate keyboard way back on May 12, 2008 is still one of my favorite comment of all time. It had me in tears.

I wonder if it's time again for the History of Pirates on my blog? New readers are probably scratching their head over ARRRRG!!!!'s comments.

Either my standards have fallen over the past few years, or ARRRRG!!!! has gotten a lot funnier, because in hindsight, I can't believe I labelled his (or her?) comments as sophomoric back in 2008.

Director,
Having lower standards can be a lot more fun. I think it was Mickey Gilley that had a song titled "The Girls All Get Prettier At Closin' Time". It applies to otherthings also.

You can always refer those new readers to the pirate encyclopedia.

Tom-Probably ought to box those babies up and send them over to Morrill Hall for examination by the dinosaur experts.
