Flow chart

I admit that I am something of a data hound. I take a little good natured teasing about that from time to time.  Over the weekend a friend sent me an email filled with charts. When I read it on Saturday morning, I laughed so hard I woke Tonja up, spewed coffee, and almost--well, you know.  Come to think of it, there was a flow chart for that:

Maybe you need a moderator for your own posts.

Better post this in the bar district downtown... I think some of those people could make good use of this flow chart.

These are still my favorites.

This one's been floating around our shop for years. Not sure if the chief will allow it to be posted.

Now that I am no longer driving big rigs over the road I can look back on some of the experiences from that time with a more humorous attitude than I had when the events occurred. In a large city like Chicago or New York if you are driving a big rig finding a place to use the facilities is a huge problem. Every driver carries a jug with a lid for the disposal of liquids but solids are totally different. If you are extremely agile a coffee can with a lid and a roll of T.P and a small bush will do. However small bushes in NYC aren't that easy to find. Doing your business in a cabover is damned difficult. I remember one occasion in Chicago where I got caught at a railroad crossing and the horrible urge hit me. For a large man with bad knees and a bad back it ain't easy doing your duty in front of the drive wheels in traffic but I did it somehow. I wonder how many of the drivers in the surrounding cars called the police to report a pervert?

This post should probably be accompanied by some sort of legal disclaimer, such as the following:

"DISCLAIMER: The Lincoln, Nebraska Chief of Police does not endorse public urination. Wetting of the pants, however, is not prohibited."

(sarcasm)

BTW, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that, 2 hours after originally reading this, I just caught the double-entendre in the title to this post.

Please update indicating which way the wind is going? I must admit Chief, you keep us entertained.

Can you tell me why you're busy trying to be funny when one of the largest credit/debit card scams in the history of this city is taking place. This has been going on since last Wednesday and you have done nothing to alert the public on what they need to do to stop it.

Now that's a "FLOW" chart.

If appropriate, please do follow up on anon 2:19 PM's comment.

Chief:

I guess some people just don't get that this is your private blog, done for the most part I presume, on your own time.

Maybe 2:19 can start his/her own blog and tell us what we need to know without being funny.

2:19-

Could I please have the freedom to publish my personal posts before my workday?

We really don't have enough on these cases yet. For now, you should check your accounts for any suspicious charges. We have had around 40 reports so far.

Your bank will usually set the daily point-of-purchase limit on your debit card extremely high, several thousand dollars (the last one I got was set at $9,000). If you don't use your ATM/debit card for purchases (which many don't, because the fraud protection on a credit card is better than that for a debit card), call your bank and have them drop that daily point-of-purchase limit to just a few hundred dollars, or even get it replaced with an ATM-only card.

Why are you posting stuff like this on your blog? I realize you are just adding some humor to the internet, but you are really paid to post things of value like public safety messages. I'm not happy that my tax dollars in Lincoln are being paid to support this kind of non-value added activity.

You won't post this by the way because I'm right!

No, you're wrong - and a pinhead. This is his personal blog, not an LPD blog. Note the posting times.

SAM--Do you not read the comments posted? These are the chief's personal posts before his workday even begins. Your tax dollars are not being used in any way to support the posts. If you don't like the Chief or his posts then don't read them! The rest of us use the information and enjoy the topics while looking to gain the valuable knowledge from the perspective of the Lincoln Police Chief.

I agree with Sam and the other anonymous posting. Why is this called the Chief's corner when there are personal posts? this should be called Tom Casady's blog. Not a smart rebuttle to calling names like "pinhead." Try making a real rebuttle and look at the times when the Chief posts comments. many are during the work day. Again, this blog using the Chief of Police title should be used to enrich public awareness of real security issues. Some posts do, but many do not. We need more intelligent people out there making suggestions on how to improve ourselves and our community, not just name calling

I guess people just need to lighten-up a little. Do some responses to these posts occur during "work time"? Yes. It probably takes a few minutes per day of the Chief's time to do it.

Do some posts have not much to do with actual Police work. Yes. So what?

There are probably several people reading this blog during work time right now. I am.

My point is that even the Chief of Police, although he is expected to be a 24/7 employee, is entitled to his opinions, and is entitled to free time during each day. If he chooses to update this blog while he takes a coffee break, instead of watching youtube videos, doing a crossword puzzle, passing along rumors at the water cooler, or other activities the rest of us do, great.

Most of the posts are very informative. Take away the humor, and most people will quit reading it. So keep up the good work Chief and have some fun with the blog. Or, give it up and sleep at 5am like the rest of us. Personally, I enjoy reading it so I hope you continue to lose sleep.

Speaking of intelligent posting, what is a "rebuttle"[sic]?

I think we are very lucky to have a chief as dedicated to fighting crime as the one we have. I enjoy the blogs, but have not read any of them for months. And yes, I am posting this on my work computer.
