Statue of Liberty play

Well, the ex-husband suspect from our bank robbery ten days ago turns out to be a newlywed instead, with his bride serving (allegedly) as the get away driver. You've got to love the irony of the Statue of Liberty running him down and getting the vehicle description. Check out the detective on the right in this news photo. Is that a bush on his head?

They should know better than rob a bank in Mississippi!

(I think that's my ex-wife on the right)

On a related subject, if one attempts a robbery with a fake gun, wouldn't it be helpful if the robber(s) could be charged as if the gun wasn't a fake? I might contact my Unicameral rep to suggest a bill for next session to do just that. After all, if the criminal represents a fake weapon as being real, we should play along and assume that they want their fake treated as real in all respects, even when it comes to filing weapons charges against them.

The bush is in the background but it looks like it's on top of his head. Happy to hear the robbers were caught!

Unless I'm mistaken, it makes no difference in the charge of armed robbery whether there was a real weapon or not as long as the robber claimed or indicated there was one.

We had one of those Statue of Liberty advertisers here in Lincoln not long ago near 48th and Vine. As a matter of fact, I believe it was around the time of the bank robbery. Do you suppose that's just a coincidence.

Correct. The charge of robbery is not predicated on the validity of the weapon, but on use of force, vioence or the placing of another in fear. I am not, however, certain that the additional charge of using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony could be supported if the weapon was in fact a water pistol. I think not.

The Statue of Liberty costume was worn by the employee of a tax preparation firm. They have at least one location here in Lincoln, and I've seen Lady Liberty in costume locally in years past.

Has the City Government taken a position on the pending LB262 (extend bar closing hours till 2am), so that you, as a prominent public official, could weigh in on the wisdom of giving the professional binge drinkers an extra hour to guzzle before they head back to campus and puke, get in even more inebriated fights at 14th & O, or drive home (bouncing off curbs even more than before)? If so, that LB might rate a post of its own.

Gives new meaning to 'God Bless America' though for this pair it may not be the 'Land of the Free'

No, not yet. The hearing was yesterday.

A pair of Liberty Statues can be seen almost daily, northbound on 27th from Cornhusker to Superior. If I was looking for a place to put a new bank, I'd consider that area...

He has an ex-wife? That's not much of a clue....

The best Statue of Liberty play still has to go to Boise State. Just ask a certain Sooner fan. Go BSU!!!

4:44, that would make Arrrrg one of two people.
The woman on the "right" is Donna Douglas, born as Dorothy Smith, who has married twice.
Once to Roland Bourgeois and the other to Robert M. Leeds.
Which one could he be?

5:40 would you be talking about Forrest, Forrest Dalton?
